Diverted - "Plum"/"Do You, Is She?"

3.0

The Vitals:

Label: Air Recordings
Genre: Breaks
Number of Tracks: 2

Dunamis' Take:

With a fan base that’s grown to include Gilles Peterson, Laurent Garnier, Justin Robertson, Eddie Temple Morris, Radioactive Man, and more, Diverted presents their third single for Air Recordings: "Plum", backed with "Do You, Is She?"

"Plum" probably is my favorite track of the two. With Diverted being a live PA group, the distinctive synthesizer lines and scattering beats in this track will make it a live favorite. This is a solid break beat track, and the distinctive synthesizer lines to me are reminiscent of 80’s leads. The added percussion tracks keep it interesting and funky. This is a track to keep and drop in for those leading moments in your mix.

A slower, experimental track, “Do You, Is She?” showcases Diverted’s downbeat side away from the dance floor. The track features Nathan Lee, the creator of the “flute box” technique (which involves playing the flute and performing beat boxing). This is another great track to add to a downtempo mix.  I like the use of the eastern, Oriental flute; it adds a nice touch to the track. The glitched beats keep it interesting as well.

These tracks are definitely ones to check out whether you’re into breaks or downtempo. They are tracks to keep in your library.  For more information on Diverted, check out www.airrecordings.com.
