Well this is it, the last issue of the Tastyfresh Magazine for 2007. It has been a great year for me. Taking over as the editor of the TF magazine has been straining at times. It certainly isn’t as easy as I hoped or thought it would be, but it is what it is and I love it. I have been very blessed to have been asked to take this over and run with it.
We are ending the year with a bang. As the writers began submitting their articles, I became more and more excited. I have read them over and over again, trying to get every little bit of wisdom and experience I possibly can. We have four this issue, all are top quality.
First up we have an incredible piece from Joel Armstrong. Joel has been producing for almost 4 years and has his music on labels such as Ruhnsong and Proton as well as half a dozen others. Joel’s remix of Glimmer by Baltic Sound is featured on Marcus Schulz’ Ibiza 2006 compilation. Clearly, Joel Armstrong knows how to put together a rock solid track. In this issue, Joel has taken time out of his hectic production schedule to put together a quality introduction to production software he has used for a year and a half, Cubase.
Next up we have another quality article from Daniel Cook (aka DJ Dunamis). This one is an introduction to lighting. Daniel has been setting up lighting rigs for almost 7 years and has done everything from mobile light rigs to larger rigs for church events. This article is a great introduction to general lighting.
Thirdly, Kevin Neely brings us the last article in his series on the dance music business. He brings his extensive knowledge of the dance music industry to the table to sum up the series. And as usual, he delivers.
Lastly, Doug Theodore brings us the Drop for this issue. He brings his experience as a club DJ for over 10 years to the table to discuss the age old problem: criticism while trying to DJ. There is nothing worse than having someone ask you to play hip hop while in the middle of a key transition. Doug has also taken up the position as Editor of the Drop column, my old column. So look forward to seeing many great things from this column.
That’s about it for this month. I hope you enjoy the articles and I am sure you will find something to learn from them.
