Well, just two weeks ago I came to you with a proposal to introduce social networking to Tastyfresh.com. The only catch was that we needed to raise some cash for it. After answering a slew of questions and showing the need for this, we've finally got the money for it. Now comes the fun part, making it work.
The more the staff and I think about adding social networking, the more sense it makes. Even in the two weeks since we've made the announcement to purchase JomSocial, we've had several examples of people trying to locate others like them in their area. I've had several emails from people who are looking for music by Christian producers and even where they can purchase their music. These are exactly the type of things JomSocial should be able to address for our community.
Because JomSocial will require everyone to have an id in Joomla and currently all of your ids are only in PHPBB, integration of this new system won't be done very fast. I'm hoping to have it only before January. It could be up sooner than that, but you never know. Jpuddy and I have been working for the past couple of weeks on a demo site. Things look really good right now. The main thing holding us back is having enough time to get the job done. We've also got a few questions floating out there in the Joomla (Tastyfresh.com's content management system), JomSocial (the social networking tool) and PHPBB (the forums) lands. Still, not one negative response.
Our goal is to combine your PHPBB account with your Joomla account. This will allow things like single logins and the sharing of your avatars. It will also allow you to write and submit articles for Tastyfresh.com. This is why we want to proceed slowly with the integration. If done right, we'll be able to kill all of the spam accounts that we currently have and hopefully prevent them in the future as well. I have my doubts on the later, but we'll see.
Once JomSocial is in, the nature of this site will hopefully start to change. We want to really start promoting Tastyfresh.com to the rest of the world. To that end, we'd love for you to invite your friends. We'd love for you to send us content to feature. We'd love to run contests. Just some that I'd like to run include T-shirt designs, banner ads and desktops. We'll also be open to suggestions too. Jpuddy will be coordinating much of this effort, so he'll be your main point of contact.
So, that's it for now. I'll keep everyone informed about the progress. At some point, we will need to disable registration in the forums and I will need to delete inactive accounts and accounts that have never made posts. This is simply to remove spammers. I'll give you all a few days notice on that when the time comes. Until next time... peace.

You can rest assured that we're working on getting this product integrated nicely. We don't just want to slap it on haphazardly, but we also don't want you to wait forever to see the fruit of what you've invested. So stay tuned!
