News

It all started two years ago. Kevin, Doug and I were talking about what we were going to do about running a generator stage during the day at Cornerstone. We wanted to do that again, but we all knew one thing, we had to give something back to the Cornerstone Festival community, a generator stage just wouldn’t cut it. We joked about doing a compilation CD to hand out and then we let the idea drop for a few weeks. Doug’s temporary departure from our community a few weeks later though brought the CD back to the forefront of our discussion and a few weeks later, we had the first edition of the Afterhours compilation in our hands. After the festival, we were able to find maybe 16 out of a 1000 CDs that had been left behind by Festival goers. There was no question that the following year would bring Volume 2.

It’s time to start producing volume 3 now and a lot has changed since last year. New Christian run labels have been formed, old ones have been sold and a few have been reinvigorated. Artists that were on the outer fringes of the EDM scene are now more readily known and seen. One thing is for sure though, the quality of Christian produced EDM has again improved over the past year.

And now, Tastyfresh.com is proud to announce Science Drop as the DJ for this year’s Afterhours CD. Science Drop will be both mixing and compiling this beast of a project. Science Drop is the new owner of DeepLife Records and he is also the host of “The Essence of Diversity” on radio.godsdjs.com.

To make this happen, we need the Tastyfresh.com community to step up and provide two things.

First, we need to raise the funds for the CD itself. Manufacturing and shipping the CD will cost about $1,000. We rely on the community to provide this for us and for the past two years, the community has not let us down. We want to keep providing this CD for free to the Cornerstone Festival goers. This is something that they truly enjoy and appreciate. To them, it’s a souvenir that is worth holding on to for years to come.

You can make this happen for them. All we need are 50 people who are willing to donate $20 or 100 people to give $10. In return, you will receive a copy of the CD yourself. In fact, outside of going to the festival, this will be the ONLY way to obtain a copy. We will not be selling ANY leftovers, if there even are any. I had to say “no” to several people who were willing to pay big bucks for copies over the past year. It’s not going to happen, so if you want a copy, please donate today.

The second way you can help make this compilation happen is by submitting your music. Part of Science Drop’s job is to find music for the compilation. To aid him in that, we have a submission form for your use. You can send him up to three tracks. You will need to host the tracks on your own server or online download service like Mediafire.com. The submission form is also your contract. Either Science Drop or I will contact you if your music has been selected. 3

In return use of your music, you will be given two copies of the CD. You will be credited on the CD sleeve and on Tastyfresh.com. And lastly, your music will be exposed to about 1,000 new people, many of whom have never heard EDM before.

So, that’s about it. We need to collect both the money for the CD and the tracks by April 25, 2010 in order to have everything produced in time. You should notice that on every page of Tastyfresh.com, there ChipIn widget to show not only our progress financially, but for you send your donations to us. Should we fail to reach $1,000 we will refund your donation.

As always, thank you for your support.
